This research explores the inclusion of tangible design within the early stages of music composition. It includes expert involvement and a lab study involving 7 participants; 3 experienced composers and 4 pianists with few to no composing background. The tangible user interface created for this study allows for collaboration with a digital piano and can split up a musical idea in small recordings using so called tokens.
